Solid Gold

Another beautiful Northlake Sunset. After weeks of rain and overcast, Monday evening provided sun and even a rainbow. Just as the sunset we got a glimpse of gold, turning everything a beautiful gilded yellow. Perfect.

Goods Times at Canyon Ridge

Sometimes it is fun to break out the camera for no good reason. Tonight the girls were wearing matching shirts and hoodies so it seems like a great photo op. What made it even better was the big red pimple on my chin! Enjoy....

Dinner Tonight

It isn't often that everyone agrees on dinner.
Tonight I decided to go traditional full fat, it was a hit.
I guess that must be what my cooking is missing... calories.

Pasta Alfredo
(approx. 6 servings)
1/4 cup butter 1 cup heavy cream 1 clove garlic, crushed 1 1/2 cup parmesan cheese 1/4 cup chopped fresh Italian parsley Melt butter in a saucepan over medium low heat. Add cream and simmer for 5 mins, then add garlic and cheese, whisk quickly, heating through. Stir in parsley and serve over pasta. Pair nicely with a desert of 'Husband and kids do the dishes'

Audrey says...

So we thought it was a good time to write down the things Audrey says that are funny, before she doesn't say them anymore. I guess true to form being my youngest I rarely correct her mostly because it is cute and I secretly never want her to grow up! On the left her word, on the right is the Engjish translation:
Kickcited : Excited
Tennis Shoe: Tissue
Brekstas: breakfast
Eyetacts: Contacts
Candy Cotton: Cotten Candy
Usuallyana: Louisiana

PJS

My intention was to make myself a pair of pj bottoms, but really isn't it more fun to sew for kids? So here are the fruits of my Labor Day afternoon project. The girls were pretty happy with the results, they of course enjoy any opportunity to model. Audrey had to put on lipstick and told me that they were going to make lots of great faces. One awesome thing I learned about hardwood floors tonight is that they make an awesome backdrop! I think that one may actually make it to a frame. Bailey picked out the embellishments for her tank, the pocket and the little 'b' on the back. She did a great job participating considering she had a flu shot yesterday and feels like she has the flu today. Funny how that works.

Tweens

Cosmetic rolls filled with goodies for birthday gifts
Bailey and Audrey 'working' on B's new table Bailey and Micah going for a ride on the 4wheeler
The person who came up with that term was genious, because by the time you fully understand them they have moved to the next stage-full blown teenager. I am amazed each day how much Bailey is growing, not only in size but in maturity.
Her sense of style has changed from simple to simple stated. She has begun to pick her friends based on similiar values and less on popularity. She is learning to speak up for herself at home and at school. Her logic has improved and she is mastering the art of negotiation. Aside from all the technical stuff, she is still spending her free time enjoying all the fun young girl stuff. Learning to ride her ripstick, learning to apply makeup and redecorating her room to match her style not mine. This weekend she had two birthdays for friends, we tried to come up with a 'tween' appropriate gift. Thanks to our new Sam Moon store at Heritage Trace the gifts were a success. Last weekend we took a trip to IKEA to pick up some items for Bailey's room. I think that Bailey and I could have filled up the truck, but we did get Bailey a great 6'long desk and some fun accessories. Next project, paint the room.
We are going to trade hot pink for bright orange and earthy greens and blues. I can't wait to get my paint brush out. Bailey wants to incorperate owls into her theme so the end results should be tween-tastic!
