We all survived the first week of the girls school! Back to early mornings and rushing through the routinue of get up, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush hair, brush teeth, get bags and GO! Luckily the girls didn't start on the same day so we had a chance to ramp up! Audrey is back to uniforms, while Bailey made a fashion statement incorperating shiny yellow flats and rolled up skinny jeans. Audrey's big news was that over the summer her friend, Grace, got her hair cut
really short, which according to Audrey was, "SO CUTE" Bailey was blessed with a top locker and a schedule of 8 classes each day. Oh and how could I forget, the middle school cafeteria serves ICEEs and Funnel Cakes. It was a good week and went by fast!

Night at the Gaylord
Our first visit to the Gaylord Texan was Friday night. We went for their SummerBlast party, it was a little garage top party that ended with a fireworks show over the lake. The kids participated in a hula-hoop contest and a lot of dancing. Audrey had a blast, she didn't even want to stop dancing when the fireworks started! The Gaylord has a lot of really great places for photo opportunities, definately a must visit during the day. Good news I picked up my camera from Best Buy, bad news is it still doesn't take photos at night that well. Or maybe it is still the operator? It was a great evening, we ate at the hotel and spend sometime cruising around the hotel lobby snapping pics. Bailey brought her friend Micah and they seemed to have a great time. Bailey even finished third in the hula hoop contest!

Why I love Northlake...
It is Friday and my vacation is drawing to a close. I would say the week has been a success, I got a lot of things marked off my to do list. Unfortunately taking my camera in to get fixed was one of them so I have no pics to post! I would like to say, I don't know how stay at home moms do it! I think I was busier this week at home then I ever am during a work week. I guess I don't notice the things I don't get to when I am at work! The girls finished gymnastics camp on Thursday and today we took a visit to the Gainsville zoo. It was a good day. Now I am just chillin on my back patio watching my kids and my extended family kids run around the back yard on a amazing August evening. It is so quite out here, nice breeze. So many things to be thankful for. Thankful for my super hot husband, cute kiddos, energetic dogs and an awesome place to call home. It is nice to sit back and remember all that you have in such a fast paced world. Two weeks and we will all be back in school and two weeks from that my kids will be in college and Rick and I will be OLD. Just a reminder to take it slow sometimes and remember the good stuff.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
Today was a busy day for us, considering it was a 'vacation' day. We started this morning by dropping Sam off for what was a shearing to say the least. Poor guy, he was excited to go and definitely seemed pretty excited when we got home, but he looks really silly! By 10:30 we were all at Avatar for a haircut, 1PM Gymnastics camp, by 5PM we were at Pike Middle School picking up Bailey's schedule for school, 6PM pick up 'naked' Sam and by 630 home for drive-thru dinner. By 7PM I was ready to call it a night! That is when I heard it, the chiming song of an ice-cream truck. Ice cream trucks don't come to our neighborhood, we are lucky the mailman delivers here! I stepped outside to see if my ears were deceiving me and that is when I saw it. Not an ordinary ice cream truck, an ice cream truck that serves soft serve ice cream, dipped cones and shakes. An Adkins nightmare on wheels. I looked across the lawn and Bailey is walking in a slow trance toward the street. She is obviously as amazed as I was, it was like the Pied Piper, I wondered what would happen when she got the truck and realized she had no money. She came back to the house and asked if maybe he was lost. Lost or not, everyone in the neighborhood was out on the street getting their sweet treats! With that kind of welcoming I imagine he will be back again soon, too bad for my hips!

Today was the first day of gymnastics camp for Bailey and Audrey at Cross Timbers Gym. They were both excited and Bailey met a new neighborhood friend, Amanda. Audrey apparently wasn't in the mood to participate much according to the tumbling teacher, but I am hopeful tomorrow she has more fun at Splash Day!
